2buyer routes

Freezone (EPZ) and domestic duty-paying, fixed before loading.

12checks per trade

Six on the seller, six on the buyer, re-screened on every contract.

1named consignee

The verified buyer, on the bill of lading and the goods declaration.

§ 00Two markets

Buy unsorted. Sell sorted. Never mixed.

Charities and their agents sell unsorted stock to Freezone and domestic sorting houses. Sorting houses sell graded bales through Ragtrail, which lists them under its own name for verified resellers worldwide. The two markets are sealed from each other, which protects price levels and supply on both sides.

§ 01The gap we close

Two sides of a large trade, and very little either can verify about the other.

Suppliers can't see where their stock really goes. Sorters can't verify who they're buying from. Ragtrail verifies both sides.

Read the full pictureShow less

Pakistan sorts a very large share of the world's used clothing, and the UK, US, Canadian and Australian collection systems produce far more than they can resell at home. The goods move. The trust doesn't, so it gets bought from brokers, at a price both ends pay.

Supplier side

Stock building up, and no way to know where it really goes.

Trading arms and collectors sell to whoever turns up with a lorry and a price per tonne. Payment terms stretch, weights get argued, and the end destination is a phone number. For a charity, that's a reputational exposure on top of a commercial one.

What Ragtrail changes for suppliers

Sorter side

Supply arrives through brokers who don't carry the risk.

Duty-paying sorters compete with containers that were under-declared or diverted from bond. Quality claims go nowhere because nobody on the documents can be held to the spec. Honest buyers pay for other people's shortcuts.

MaterialAs the supplier sees itAs the sorter buys it
Credential clothingCREDPost-consumer wearable clothing as collected from textile banks, bag collections and shop surplus, before any grading. The core feedstock for Pakistani sort floors. Bought on cream percentage, shoe and accessory content, and moisture.
OriginalsORIGUnsorted, as-collected stock including footwear, bags and household textiles. Common from US and Canadian collectors.Sold on a declared composition. Higher non-clothing content is priced in, not argued about after arrival.
Mixed ragsRAGSLower grades and non-wearables: the stock that can't be retailed but still has a fibre or wiping-cloth market. For wiper, flocking and recycling lines. The spec states what share, if any, is wearable.
§ 05Trust & verification

A trade record only exists when both stacks are complete.

Twelve checks on every trade: six on the seller, six on the buyer.

The checks are re-run on every contract. Then one rule does most of the work: the verified buyer is the consignee, the importer of record and the payer. A broker has nowhere to stand.
